This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with kidney and liver disease, AIDS, pregnancy, and lactation.

This drug is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity.

Herpes zoster- In adults usual dose consists of a tablet of 1 g to be given orally 3 times a day for 7 days.
