Usage of this drug is indicated in the treatment of moderate to severe range of hypertension, in the prevention of heart attacks or strokes, used for migraine prophylaxis, relaxation of blood vessels, and overall workload on the heart.

A mild to moderate range of side effects have been observed. Side effects such as Nausea, dizziness, fatigue, lightheadedness, troubled breathing, rash or itching on skin, confusion, sudden weight gain, a feeling of tiredness, slow heart rate, diarrhea, extreme dizziness in some cases, painful fingers or feet due to Raynaud’s phenomenon, blurred vision.

This medication is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with Diabetes or type -2 diabetes, severe chest pain or angina, bronchial asthma, liver impairment, or renal dysfunction, in cases of patients with allergies.

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a moderate to severe range of heart block, second-degree heart block, angina pectoris, severe chest pain, patient with a previous history of hypersensitivity to timolol drug or any of its constituents, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

In adults in the case of hypertension, the usual dosage consists of 10 -20 mg to be administered orally every 12 hourly, maintenance dose can be given upto 20-40 mg/ day every 12 hourly in a day, maximum dose in a day should not exceed 60 mg per day.
