Sulindac
Composition
Contains Sulindac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes.
Indications
Used to treat pain and inflammation in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute gout.
Side effects
Gastrointestinal upset, headache, dizziness, rash, potential risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
Precautions
Use with caution in patients with gastrointestinal ulcers, renal impairment, or cardiovascular disease; monitor for signs of bleeding.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to sulindac or other NSAIDs, history of asthma exacerbated by NSAIDs, active gastrointestinal bleeding.
Dosage and administration
Typical adult dose: 150–200 mg twice daily, adjusted per response and tolerance.
