Raloxifene

Composition

Contains Raloxifene hydrochloride, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM).

Indications

Used to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in high-risk patients.

Side effects

Hot flashes, leg cramps, peripheral edema, increased risk of venous thromboembolism.

Precautions

Use cautiously in patients with history of thromboembolism or cardiovascular disease; monitor bone density.

Contraindications

History of venous thromboembolism, pregnancy, lactation, hypersensitivity to raloxifene.

Dosage and administration

Typical dose: 60 mg orally once daily.
