Progesterone

Composition

Contains Progesterone, a natural hormone involved in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryo development.

Indications

Used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT), treatment of menstrual disorders, luteal phase support in infertility, and to prevent endometrial hyperplasia during estrogen therapy.

Side effects

Drowsiness, breast tenderness, mood swings, bloating, headache.

Precautions

Use cautiously in patients with depression, cardiovascular disease, or liver dysfunction; monitor if used long-term.

Contraindications

Known or suspected breast or hormone-sensitive cancer, active thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic disorders, liver disease, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.

Dosage and administration

Oral: typically 100–200 mg daily; Vaginal/IM: dosage varies by indication and formulation.
