Prasugrel
Composition
Contains Prasugrel hydrochloride, typically available in 5 mg and 10 mg oral tablets.
Indications
Used to reduce the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events (like heart attack) in patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Side effects
Bleeding, hypertension, headache, dizziness, rash.
Precautions
Increased bleeding risk in elderly, underweight patients, or those with a history of stroke/TIA.
Contraindications
Active bleeding, history of stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA), hypersensitivity to Prasugrel.
Dosage and administration
60 mg loading dose, then 10 mg once daily (5 mg daily in patients <60 kg or ≥75 years).
