Perindopril
Composition
Each single-dose tablet available in 2, 4, and 8 mg consists of perindopril erbumine IP equivalent along with other ingredients.
Indications
Usage of this drug is indicated in the treatment of hypertension, coronary artery disease, congestive cardiac failure, and post-myocardial infarction.
Side effects
A mild to moderate range of side effects has been observed. Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, bruising of the skin, bleeding of the gums, Headache, diarrhea, skin rash, blurred vision, and muscle cramps.
Precautions
This medication is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with hyperkalemia, severe renal dysfunction, pregnant females, or patients with complaints of diarrhea.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with severely lowered blood pressure. Impaired function of the bone marrow, hyperkalemia, episodes, or a history of edema.
Dosage and administration
In adults, the usual dosage in the treatment of hypertension consists of 4–8 mg/day to be administered orally, but the dose can be increased up to 16 mg/day.
