Paroxetine
Composition
Contains Paroxetine hydrochloride, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).
Indications
Used to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, OCD, and PTSD.
Side effects
Drowsiness, dry mouth, weight gain, sexual dysfunction, nausea, sweating.
Precautions
Taper gradually to avoid withdrawal symptoms; monitor for suicidal thoughts, especially in younger patients.
Contraindications
Concurrent use with MAO inhibitors, thioridazine, or pimozide; hypersensitivity to paroxetine.
Dosage and administration
Typical dose: 20–50 mg orally once daily
