Paclitaxel
Composition
The formulation contains Paclitaxel 6 mg/ml (300 mg/50 ml) with Cremophor EL, ethanol, and citric acid as the active ingredient.
Indications
Indicated for the treatment of various cancers, including ovarian cancer, breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma.
Side effects
Common side effects include bone marrow suppression (neutropenia, anemia), hair loss, nausea, vomiting, peripheral neuropathy, and hypersensitivity reactions
Precautions
To be used with caution in patients with pre-existing cardiac conditions or compromised bone marrow function
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Paclitaxel or Cremophor EL (polyoxyethylated castor oil).
