Metronidazole
Composition
Each tablet available in 200 mg 400 mg 500mg 600 mg contains metronidazole USP with other excipients accordingly.
Indications
This drug is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infection.
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effect has been observed such as depression, rash, vaginal itching, and hairy tongue
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with Crohn's disease, seizures, liver impairment, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity.
Dosage and administration
Oral tablet- In adults usual dose consists of a tablet of 500 mg to be given two to four times in a day for 14 days. If one is recommended with the injection form 15 mg/kg intravenously to be given once a day.
