Methylprednisolone
Composition
Each tablet is available in 2 mg,4 mg,8 mg,16 mg, and 32 mg containing Methylprednisolone USP with other excipients accordingly.
Indications
This drug is a corticosteroid indicated in the treatment of asthma, allergies, blood disorders, arthritis, and skin conditions.
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effect has been observed such as high blood pressure, peptic ulcer, and menstrual irregularities.
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with heart disease, thyroid disorder, stomach problems pregnancy, and lactation.
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity.
Dosage and administration
Oral tablet- In adults usual dose consists of tablets of 4 to 32 mg/day to be given orally with food. Injection- 1 gm of injection to be given intravenously for 6 to 8 weeks.
