Insulin Degludec
Composition
For 100units/ml solution each ml contains 100 units of insulin degludec and glycerol19.6mg, metacresol1.72 mg, phenol1.50 mg, zinc 32.7 mcg, and water for injection, USP.
Indications
It is indicated to control the blood sugar level in adults and child with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effect has been observed such as rash, itching, trouble breathing, irregular heartbeat, increased urination, swelling of eyelids.
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with renal disease, hepatic impairment, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with episodes of hypoglycemia, ketoacidosis, hypersensitivity.
Dosage and administration
It is available in 100 units/ml and 200 units/ml. In adults and child 0.2 -0.4 units/kg dose is administrated subcutaneously once daily at any time in a day.
