Glibenclamide
Composition
Every single dose uncoated tablet available in 1.25 mg, 5mg of glibenclamide contains 5 mg of glibenclamide IP equivalent along with other active ingredients
Indications
It is indicated to control blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes patients
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effects have been observed such as swelling of the face, and lips, abdominal discomfort, unusual bleeding, dark-colored urine, and increased heartbeat
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with kidney disease, liver disease, anemia
Contraindications
Use of this drug is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, G6PD deficiency, pregnancy, and breastfeeding
Dosage and administration
In adults the usual dose consists of a tablet of 2.5mg and increase up to 20mg given once a day after the first meal of a day.
