
Fluticasone
Composition
Nasal spray- Each actuation delivers 50 mcg of fluticasone propionate in 100 mg of formulation through a nasal adapter.
Indications
This drug is indicated in asthma, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyp.
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effect has been observed such as blurred vision, adrenal suppression, nausea, headache, and throat irritation
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with epistaxis, nasal ulceration COPD, diabetes, glaucoma pregnancy, and lactation.
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in patients with asthma, nasal septal ulcer, and injury.
Dosage and administration
For allergic rhinitis- Fluticasone propionate 0.05% spray- apply 100 mcg in each nostril once daily in the morning. Nasal polyp-Instill 200 mcg in each nostril one to two times daily for 4- 6 weeks. Asthma prophylaxis- fluticasone propionate dry inhaler- 100 mcg to be given twice daily.
