Enalapril

Composition

A single-dose uncoated tablet available in 2.5 mg, 5mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg consists of enalapril maleate IP equivalents are 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg, along with other ingredients.

Indications

The use of Enalapril is indicated in the prevention of heart attacks, high blood pressure, left ventricular dysfunction, and congestive heart failure.

Side effects

Mild to moderate side effects have been observed. Side effects such as nausea, lightheadedness, fever, chills, easy bruising, headache, tingling sensation, irregular heartbeat, and cough.

Precautions

Enalapril is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with rash, itching, dyspnea, or jugular venous distension.

Contraindications

This drug is contraindicated in patients with stroke, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and renal artery stenosis.

Dosage and administration

In adults, the usual dosage consists of 2.5 mg two times a day to be administered per orally. The daily dose should not exceed more than 40 mg/ day.
