Doxazosin
Composition
A single-dose tablet of doxazosin, available in 2 mg and 4 mg, is composed of doxazosin mesilate IP equivalent along with other ingredients.
Indications
Usage of this drug is indicated in the treatment of hypertension, benign prostate hypertrophy, urinary urgency symptoms, and ureteric calculus.
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effects have been observed. Side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, stomach pain or backache, blurred vision, and vertigo.
Precautions
This drug is to be prescribed cautiously in patients with renal impairment and hepatic disorders.
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and in patients with a previous history of hypersensitivity to this drug, quinazolines.
Dosage and administration
In adults, the usual dosage consists of 1 mg to be administered orally once a day and the dose should be increased accordingly.
