Cephalexin
Composition
Each coated tablet contains the constituent cephalexin monohydrate, equivalent to 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg of cephalexin. They also contain carboxymethylcellulose sodium as one of their components.
Indications
Its use is indicated in the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections caused by streptococcus pneumoniae and streptococcus pyogenes, and otitis media caused by susceptible isolates of various organisms. Skin infections, bone structure-related infections, and urinary tract infections too can be well managed with this medicine.
Side effects
Milder effects such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, hypersensitivity reactions.
Precautions
To be used cautiously in cases of liver impairment or renal dysfunction, seizure disorder, or coagulopathy.

Dosage and administration
Cephalexin is typically administered at a dose of 250 mg six times per day. 500 mg can be taken every 12 hours. For more severe conditions, a higher dose of 750 mg is recommended, to be taken 12 hours per day.
