Cefixime
Composition
Contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, typically 100 mg, 200 mg, or 400 mg per dose.
Indications
Used to treat bacterial infections like respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, and gonorrhea.
Side effects
Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, rash.
Precautions
Use with caution in patients with kidney disease or history of colitis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins.
Dosage and administration
Adults: 200–400 mg once daily or in divided doses; children: 8 mg/kg/day.
