Budesonide
Composition
Each tablet available in 3 mg/9 mg contains budesonide USP with other excipients accordingly. Each 2mL respule contain budesonide IP 0.5 mg/1mg.
Indications
This drug is indicated in Crohn’s disease and bronchial asthma.
Side effects
Mild to moderate side the effect has been observed such as respiratory infection, nosebleeds, muscle pain, and diarrhea.
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with a history of tuberculosis, liver disease, bleeding disorder, cataracts pregnancy and lactation.
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in patients with severe asthma, hypersensitivity.
Dosage and administration
In adult usual dose consists of a capsule of 9 mg/day to be given orally. Bronchial Asthma- as dry powder inhaler- 200 – 800 mcg daily as a single dose.
