Betamethasone

Used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, allergic reactions, and asthma; also used systemically in severe inflammatory or adrenal conditions.

Skin thinning (topical), adrenal suppression, weight gain, hypertension, hyperglycemia, osteoporosis (systemic).

Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration; avoid abrupt withdrawal after long-term use.

Hypersensitivity to betamethasone; untreated infections, systemic fungal infections

Topical: Apply thin layer 1–2 times daily. Systemic: Dose varies by condition; IM injection often 4–12 mg as needed.
