Amitriptyline
Composition
Each single dose coated tablet available in 10mg/25mg of Amitriptyline contains 10mg/25mg of Amitriptyline hydrochloride along with other inactive ingredients
Indications
It is indicated in depression, migraine nerve pain and bedwetting
Side effects
Mild to moderate side effect has been observed such as loss of appetite, bone marrow depression, anxiety, heart attack
Precautions
This drug is to be cautiously used in patients with liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid, Alcohol addition, pregnancy and lactation
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients taking antihistamines, mono oxidase inhibitors drug, hypersensitivity, heart attack, liver impairment
Dosage and administration
In depression- In adults the usual dose consists of tablet of 50-75 mg/day to be given orally with or without food, Neuropathic pain- the usual dose consists of tablet of 10-25 mg/day to be given orally at night with or without food, Migraine- the usual dose consists of tablet of 10 mg/day to be given orally at night with or without food.
