Acetylsalicylic Acid

Composition

Contains Acetylsalicylic Acid (ASA), available in various strengths and formulations including 81 mg (low-dose) and 325 mg tablets.

Indications

Used for pain relief, inflammation, fever reduction, and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events like heart attack and stroke.

Side effects

Gastric irritation, bleeding, ulcers, tinnitus (high doses), allergic reactions.

Precautions

Use cautiously in patients with bleeding disorders, peptic ulcer disease, asthma, or renal impairment.

Contraindications

Active bleeding, aspirin allergy, children with viral infections (Reye’s syndrome risk), severe hepatic or renal disease.

Dosage and administration

Cardiovascular protection: 75–100 mg once daily. Pain/fever: 325–650 mg every 4–6 hours as needed.
